Department of Egyptology

The department of Egyptology is an interdisciplinary institute for the study and research of ancient Egypt and the Sudan from late prehistory up late antiquity. The library of the department and the close collaboration of members of the institute with regional and international partner institutions offer excellent conditions for studying and research.
The department runs joint degrees with the department of African Studies, the Institute of Archaeology and the Institute of Ancient World Studies. The courses cover all phases and scripts of the ancient Egyptian language. Seminars and lectures on the archaeology and history of ancient Egypt and the Sudan help students develop their skills in critical thinking and their individual study profiles.
