The archaeology of pharaonic Egypt: society and culture in the Old and Middle Kingdom

The project presents a synthesis of current debates in the archaeology of the Old and Middle Kingdom in Egypt, ca. 2700 to 1700 BC. The book reviews discussions in landscape and settlement archaeology, funerary culture and the archaeology of temple cult in light of theoretically informed models derived from the social and cultural sciences and other disciplines of the ancient world. It will be published in the “World Archaeology Series” with Cambridge University Press and is designed to stimulate comparative discussions of early complex societies.
